7, mediterranean style diet and depression rates

Hi!!!!
Today I’m going tell you about an article published in The Guardian – http://www.guardian.co.uk/ – about a study realized in Spain to see the probable benefits that the mediterranean style diet –characterized by a lot of fruits and vegetables, olive oil and low rates of intake of red meats and dairy products could and so much fish- has to mental health.

This article says that is well known that the mediterranean style diet has important benefits to health specifically to heart and circulation problems, but recently surged the doubt if this style diet could be related with some variables of mental healt, specifically with depression scales. The results showed that the persons that were more followers of a mediterranean style diet had fewer score in depressions questionnaires. About those results is necessary leave in clear –and the article does it- that this isn’t a causal study, so we can’t say that this diet is cause of less rates depression, only that the variables are linked. In this line is proposed also, that there are other factors that could be related with the results of the study, as weather, if the people do or not sports activities, ect. Obviously we have to consider also the individuals variables and the other differents factors –specifically psicosocial factors- can be influencing the development or not that a mental disorder, in this case, depression and also that all that variables are related some with others. So we only can conclude of this articel that the diet in general could seem has an influence in the mood states.

Regards!!!
